Cherry Picker & VM Breadz

Features of Cherry Picker:
  • Support for both Product Types (VM1.1) and Custom Fields (VM2)
  • You can apply as many filters at the same time as you want.
  • Different layouts available: simple list, checkbox list, drop-down.
  • Option to load filters dynamically with Ajax to gain best performance.
  • Easy customizable through the back-end menu.
  • Supports SEF.
  • And many more.
Cherry Picker is made to work with the following Joomla/Virtuemart configurations:
- Joomla Joommla 1.5 and (1.1.* versions)
- Joomla Joomla 1.6 Joomla 1.7 Joomla 2.5 and Virtuemart 2.0.

Features of VM Breadz:
  • VM Breadz shows breadcrumbs with applied filters.
  • VM Breadz will work only in Virtuemart. It is done on purpose. When you browse your other Joomla categories you may use default Joomla Breadcrumbs, and set it up to be displayed everywhere except Virtuemart. When you enter Virtuemart -- that is where VM Breadz's role starts.
  • Provides with '(x)', sort of 'Close-link' to remove the filter.
  • This module is developed to be used in combination with Cherry Picker and comes in the same bundle.

Cherry Picker version differences.

Currently there are three versions of Cherry Picker to match your Joomla/Virtuemart configuration.

  • Cherry Picker for Joomla 1.5 and Virtuemart 1.1.

It runs natively on Virtuemart 1.1. No other tools are required. (Though you can still use Fast Seller to minimize the work)

  • Cherry Picker for Joomla 2.5 and Virtuemart 2 using Custom Fields.

It uses native Custom Fields that were introduced in Virtuemart 2. No other tools are required.

  • Cherry Picker for Joomla 2.5 and Virtuemart 2 using Product Types

There are quite a few advantages that Product Types have over Custom Fields. And this version of module exists for those who wish to use these advantages. But there is no interface in Virtuemart 2 where you could create Product Types. Therefore you need to use either Fast Seller that makes the process of creating and assigning filters also comfortable, or import values with CSVI or any other software you may prefer.

Independence from Custom Fields also enables us to have filters represented in other ways, for example with trackbar:

    or color palette:

Filters set-up.

All modules will work out of the box. They come pre-configured, so you need just to install and publish it like any other Joomla module.

But depending on the version of Virtuemart you are using there are different approaches in setting up filters for Cherry Picker.

Virtuemart 1.1

For Virtuemart 1.1 users there are a few available sources that will help you create filters:

Please note, you won't see module on the site until you create and assign filter to at least one product.

Virtuemart 2

If you choose to run Custom Fields version follow this guide for help.

If you choose Product Types version then, as mentioned above, you will need to use either Fast Seller of CSV import.
