Issue: I installed the module, but there is nothing on a page. What do I do?

There are only two steps that have to be done:
  1. Install the module; and
  2. Publish it into working position.
That's it for module set up.

For Virtuemart 1.1:

Next, we need to go to Virtuemart and create Product Types with Parameters and assign them to our products.
Watch this video that will give you an insight on how to set Cherry Picker & filters up, and cover some other useful options.

Issue: Choose filter, but results do not update

Virtuemart 2

There could be a few reasons for that:

  1. You have just installed Cherry Picker or updated Virtuemart and the file product.php was overwritten.

In any case check this thread for pre-edited and ready-to-use files. Get a proper one for your Virtuemart / Cherry Picker version.

  2. You are using filters outside of categories. Also you are using SEF. In this case you need to use this router.php file. Get it from here and overwrite the original.
(This is not relevant anymore in Cherry Picker version PT 3.6 and CF 2.6).
  3. You are using Joomla Cache. And even though you apply a filter and URL changes, Joomla returns the same page from cache. Try disabling cache in "Joomla > Global Configuration" and "Joomla > Extensions > Plug-in Manager > System - Cache".

If this works, the obvious solution would be either to keep Cache OFF or to use a tool like this Cache Control and exclude Virtuemart from using cache.

  4. This concerns a Cherry Picker version using Custom Fields. You might have not been fully accurate when using this manual and specified custom fields' Title with spaces, like "sales color". Note, that it must be without spaces, like "sales_color".
(This is not relevant anymore in the latest versions of Cherry Picker. You can have spaces in custom field names and Cherry Picker will process them correctly).

Question: Hide Categories when filtering

In Virtuemart 2 when using filters you may wish to hide displayed categories:

It usually happens when you use filters on the homepage. In this case there is no any particular category id present in the URL and Virtuemart "decides" to show all available categories you have in the store.

Question: Preparing your template for Dynamic Update of results

Please choose the corresponding section for your Cherry Picker version:

Cherry Picker Product Types v3.10 and Cherry Picker Custom Fields v2.10 and newer

With new Cherry Picker versions there is no need to manually edit any files. But you may need to provide your template's CSS selector for a component element. Cherry Picker will try determine it automatically, but if it fails, it will present an alert with a corresponding message. In this case we strongly advise that you use developer tools like Firebug to inspect your website HTML markup

For example, in this template we can see that "#main" is the element that wraps all Virtuemart products

All that remains to do is to provide its ID in CP configurations:

Older versions

There are two steps that we'll take to make sure this feature is fully working.

1. Check that your template has component.php file.

Let's take for example default Joomla template beez_20. It has the file we need:
